On July 28th, 2005, 15 members of Faith Bible piled into 2 vans at 4am at
the local Walmart and embarked on the first church-sponsored group mission
trip since the church was founded in 2001. Our destination: Brownsville, TX
to team up with 100 other people from across the US and one Canadian to
minister in Mexico through To Every
Tribe Ministries.
Their
mission: "ROM 15:20 And thus I aspired to preach the gospel, not where
Christ was already named, that I might not build upon another man's
foundation."
Simply put, their purpose is to take the gospel
to areas where there is no evidence of a credible presentation of the
gospel.
We arrived at our destination on July 29th, crossed the
border on the 30th, and returned to the US on August 4th. We participated in medical
clinics for new outreaches in Emiliano Zapato and Centinario and hurricane
relief in La Posa and Media Luna. Just two weeks prior Hurricane Emily, a
Category 4 hurricane, made a direct hit 35 miles southwest of Media Luna
which sits on the Laguna Madre. By the grace of God there was no loss of
life! The Ministry has works established in La Posa and Media Luna but this year the focus was showing the love of Christ
by meeting the tangible needs of the residents after the hurricane. Through
that work the relationships continued to be built to 'earn the right' to
share Christ with those who have not heard.
While pictures only
start to tell the story of all God did, we hope you enjoy them and are
challenged to broaden your worldview, and perhaps even team up with
TETM
next year.
The links below will take you along with us on our
journey.
